SRE (Site Reliability Engineering)

A software engineering approach developed by Google with the goal of creating highly scalable and reliable software structures, making the DevOps philosophy tangible.

Site Reliability Engineers bridge the gap between development and operations by applying a software engineering mindset to system administration concerns. Thus, they divide their work equally between operations and development tasks.

While the DevOps concept defines what the cultural change and way of working should look like, SRE is about shaping the theoretical DevOps approach with methods and tools.
